Anna Paquin joins The Affair for a final season time jump
The True Blood alum will play Alison and Cole’s now-adult daughter, Joanie Lockhart, on the fifth and final season of the Showtime series. A portion of Season 5 will jump in time two to three decades into the future for Paquin's scenes. Joanie was last seen on The Affair as a 5-year-old, while Paquin is 36. According to TVLine, "Paquin’s Joanie returns to a climate-change ravaged Montauk to piece together the truth about what happened to her late mother (played by former cast member Ruth Wilson), bringing The Affair‘s five-season narrative full circle." Paquin last year starred on the Netflix miniseries Alias Grace. She recently filmed the Pop TV limited series Flack, playing a London-based U.S. publicity maven.
