Golden Globes sets 2020 date: The Jan. 5 ceremony will be the closest-ever to New Year's Day
The 77th Golden Globe Awards broadcast is scheduled for Jan. 5, 2020, which is the closest the annual ceremony has ever been to New Year's Day . The Golden Globes have been inching closer to New Year's Day, with this year's ceremony on Jan. 6 and last year's on Jan. 7. Earlier this decade, the Globes were held as late as Jan. 17. The earlier Globes date comes as the Oscars moves to the earlier date of Feb. 9 next year.
