With mini-seasons, Netflix is stealing an old trick from broadcast TV
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina premiered Oct. 26, returned for a Christmas special on Dec. 14 and will be back on April 5 for Season 2. This is a good thing, says Inkoo King, who hates the long waits between seasons of many shows in the Prestige TV era. "I eagerly anticipate more of Sabrina’s Buffy-lite escapades, and as a TV binger, I’m tired of forgetting what happened in the previous season on some of my favorite shows in the 364 days between releases," says Kang. "Sabrina’s twice-a-year advents, like Nailed It’s and Queer Eye’s before it, suggest Netflix is rediscovering the wisdom of broadcast TV’s periodic dole outs."
