Dermot Mulroney tapped to play Chicago Fire's new chief
Mulroney will board Season 13 of the NBC drama as Chief Dom Pascal. He succeeds Eamonn Walker, who departed last season after playing Battalion Chief Wallace Boden since Season 1. Details of Dom Pascal haven't been released. But according to Deadline's Rosy Cordero, "Dom Pascal began his career with the CFD but spent the last decade as a chief in Sunny Miami. Described as a cheerful person who works well under pressure, and whose leadership style differs from Boden’s, Pascal is estranged from his wife. Before Boden was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of the Chicago Fire Department, he had chosen Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) as his successor. The introduction of Dom Pascal would interfere with that plan, and Eigenberg earlier this month shared insight with Deadline as to why Herrmann may pass on the opportunity."
Jordan Peele to produce a Scare Tactics reboot for USA Network
The horror-themed hidden-camera prank show, which was originally hosted by Shannen Doherty when it premiered in 2003, will return this fall. The new Scare Tactics “will turn unsuspecting individuals into the main characters of their very own horror movies," says USA Network. This heart-pounding show offers a cinematic approach to the hidden camera concept. Set up by their friends and family, these unwitting participants are put in hilariously twisted scenarios with fully immersive stories that blur the lines of reality, horror and comedy. As they navigate one unreal decision after another, audiences will laugh, jump and be left breathless for more.” In addition to Doherty, Scare Tactics was hosted by Stephen Baldwin and Tracy Morgan.
Bowen Yang: Working at SNL means being constantly told the show sucks
“I work at Saturday F*cking Night Live, the cringiest thing in show business on every level," Yang said on his and Matt Rogers' Las Culturistas podcast, according to Cracked. "Cringe Mountain is SNL. Eternally grateful that I work there, will be the defining thing of my life and career. And yet, it’s a cringe mountain because to live through working at SNL and to have people constantly tell you how much it sucks, how bad it is, how it’s not as good as it used to be… For your career, that has to do something to you psychologically where you emerge and go, I don’t give a f*ck.”
