HBO bringing back The Yogurt Shop Murders for a new series finale
The four-episode true-crime docuseries that aired last August will return for a fifth and “final chapter” on May 22, titled “The End of Wondering.” The additional episode “will document what happened in the weeks following the events of episode four. The original cutoff was… pretty unfortunate timing,” says The Hollywood Reporter’s Tony Maglio. “Or perhaps it was the popularity of The Yogurt Shop Murders that put a little giddy-up into the investigation. Three weeks after The Yogurt Shop Murders (first) concluded on HBO, the 34-year-old cold case was finally solved. So yeah, nada for 1,768 weeks, then the docuseries runs, and then three weeks later the Austin Police Department (APD) say they have the real murderer: serial killer Robert Eugene Brashers. And he’s dead anyway. Using DNA evidence, Brashers was identified as the killer after the Austin PD got the wrong man — er, men. Well, really they were teens at the time: at various points, the police got confessions from Forrest Welborn, Maurice Pierce, Robert Springsteen and Michael Scott. The confessions are now believed to have been coerced through intensive interview techniques. Springsteen served three years on death row and a decade overall in prison before being exonerated; Scott had previously received a life sentence.” Watch the trailer.

Golden Globes says use of A.I. “does not automatically disqualify” a TV show or movie
The Golden Globes has set its guidelines with the use of artificial intelligence. “The use of artificial intelligence (AI), including generative AI, does not automatically disqualify a work from consideration, provided that human creative direction, artistic judgment, and authorship remain primary throughout the production process,” the new guidelines state. “All submitted work will be evaluated based on the extent to which creative direction, artistic decision-making, and execution originate from credited individuals. AI and similar technologies may be used as part of the production process in the manner described below, but may not replace the core creative contributions of human talent. With any use of AI, Golden Globes Eligibility Committee will review the submission and eligibility determination process and may request additional information or materials to assess the role in the creation of the work. Failure to provide requested information in a timely manner may result in ineligibility.”
