Jo Koy to host the 2024 Golden Globe Awards
The comedian, best known for his Netflix standup specials, will make his debut as host of a major awards show on Sunday, Jan. 7 when he hosts the 81st Golden Globes ceremony on CBS. The announcement 2-1/2 weeks before the award show comes after the Globes struggled to find a comedian. “I’ve stepped onto a lot of stages around the world in my career, but this one is going to be extra special. I’m so excited to be hosting the Golden Globes this year,” said Koy. “This is that moment where I get to make my Filipino family proud. Mahal Kita (Google it)!” “Mahal kita” means “I love you” in the Filipino language of Tagalog.
George Santos to be paid as he gets the documentary treatment from Fyre Fraud and LuLaRich co-director
“I’m a scammer whisperer,” says Jenner Furst, who co-directed 2019 Netflix documentary Fyre Fraud on the Fyre Festival and 2021 Amazon Prime Video documentary LuLaRich on the LuLaRoe clothing empire. Fyre Fraud drew criticism for paying Fyre Festival co-founder Billy McFarland to license materials used in the film. Santos will likewise receive some financial compensation for his participation, in the form of an archival materials fee, which Furst says is common in the industry. Furst says the payment would cover photographs, videos, and “a lot of personal stuff that people have never seen.” Furst, however, doesn't feel like the disgraced ex-congressman is profiting off his notoriety. “The only way that people can get their money back is somehow for there to be money created, to put money in their hands,” says Furst.
Shortly after appearing on The Masked Singer, John Schneider tweeted President Biden and Hunter Biden should be executed
"Mr. President, I believe you are guilty of treason and should be publicly hung. Your son too," the former Dukes of Hazzard star tweeted at the president shortly after his appearance on The Masked Singer's Season 10 finale aired on Wednesday night. Schneider later deleted the tweet. “John Schneider took off more than one mask tonight. Fox gave this guy a platform tonight,” tweeted Vulture’s Josef Adalian. “I’m truly sorry for the loss of his wife, but that doesn’t excuse calling for the public execution of POTUS.”
Peacock's exclusive NFL game Saturday will go commercial-free in the fourth quarter
The Saturday night game between the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Chargers will go commercial-free in the fourth quarter and feature more sideline stories, studio hits and game content. Noting that Peacock is paying $110 million to exclusively show Saturday's game and a January playoff game, The Wall Street Journal's Joe Flint reports: "The move seems counterintuitive, given that NFL games are a premium destination for advertisers and a cash machine for media companies. Peacock is expecting a lot of new viewers, however, and wants to give them a first-class experience that will persuade them to become paying subscribers."

Mandy Patinkin is confident that his and wife Kathryn Grody's canceled Showtime series Seasoned will find a new home
Patinkin, his wife and their son Gideon Grody-Patinkin — who co-created Seasoned with Ewen Wright — already shot a pilot for the show, which was canceled in June amid the writers' strike before filming could begin. "Oh, I’m quite confident we’re going to find a new home," Patinkin tells The Hollywood Reporter of the scripted series loosely based on their lives. "I’m pretty seasoned in this game, forgive the use of the show title, and I know when something is this unique. And now I want to tell you a story, which will sound like what it is: a selling point. She and I went on a leaf-peeping trip up the East Coast with our dear friends in early October. And this was nothing new to me, but our friends couldn’t get over it. Wherever we’d go, people would recognize Kathryn, no matter how we were bundled up or whatever, the white hair would stick out and the black glasses. I mean, for young people and, really, women of all ages, she’s like a f*cking rock star. And I’ve wanted the world to know my wife for 40-some years, and whatever I’d do to suggest a larger venue than off-off-Broadway, where she writes her wonderful plays and does other people’s wonderful plays, she’d cut my balls off. And so my son made the one wish I could never make happen happen, which was to get the world to know this amazing person."

Why Rachel McAdams didn't appear in last month's Mean Girls Black Friday Walmart ad
McAdams says she didn't join former co-stars Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert in the ad because "I wasn't that excited about doing a commercial if I'm being totally honest. A movie sounded awesome, but I've never done commercials, and it just didn't feel like my bag...Also, I didn't know that everyone was doing it. … I found that out later."
