Law & Order: Organized Crime canceled after five seasons
The cancelation of the Christopher Meloni-led spinoff of Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, which premiered on NBC in 2021, “doesn’t come as a huge surprise; the Law & Order spinoff’s most recent fifth season launched on Peacock exactly a year ago. It subsequently got a second-window run on NBC, the series’ home for its first four seasons, last fall,” says Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva. “Still, as Deadline reported in February, while dormant, Organized Crime was not completely dead and there had been a soft outreach for a new showrunner. I hear that never materialized and, with NBC bullish on its five drama pilots that have started to come in, Organized Crime‘s fate has been sealed.” Meloni is already starring in another series: Dan Fogelman’s upcoming Hulu NFL drama The Land.

The news comes five years after the death of 7 Up’s longtime director and producer Michael Apted. “In the finale, the participants will look back at their lives in a way very few people ever have, caught on camera and recorded for ever,” according to Radio Times. “In 2014 I named the Up Series as my favourite documentary of all time,” says 70 Up director Asif Kapadia. “Who knew that two decades later I would have the incredible honour and privilege to be asked to direct 70 Up, the legendary documentary series. I love the show! I have watched it all my life, first as a child with my parents and siblings, growing up in East London and then as an adult. I was lucky to meet Michael Apted a few times.”
