Marshawn Lynch is set to play a Las Vegas P.I. in an Amazon MGM series
The retired NFL running back and Super Bowl winner is set to star in an untitled series from Amazon MGM Studios as a version of himself "who, in refusing the typical life of a retired athlete, dives into a new career as a Las Vegas private eye — teaming with a tough, veteran female PI in a partnership as unpredictable as the cases they take on," according to Deadline. The untitled series is from Max Searle, a veteran writer-producer for Dave, Only Murders in the Building, Based on a True Story and The Wonder Years. Lynch has made a number of TV cameos over the years, on The League, Lopez vs. Lopez, Westworld and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. But his appearance on 2022 Netflix series Murderville really showed off his comedy chops, resulting in roles in the movies Bottoms and, recently, The Pickup (both from Amazon and/or MGM). Lynch is also set to appear on Euphoria Season 3.
Jimmy Kimmel posts a photo of him and Norman Lear, who was on President Richard Nixon's "enemies list," ahead of his return from suspension
As People points out, Kimmel’s photo choice is notable given Lear was famously outspoken in his opposition to the FCC and its rulings during his own career. When Lear died at age 101 in December 2023, Kimmel said he was "not only a giant in the world of television, but a great man who was one of the most important and impressive people I ever had the pleasure of meeting. He changed situation comedy in the best possible way. He taught us so much about so many serious things, always making us laugh while he did it, and everyone who works in or even watches television owes him a great debt. Especially me.”

Burn Notice creator Matt Nixon is behind the long-gestating reboot, which has been in the works for a year and a half. Fox has given Baywatch a 12-episode order. "The original series was set and shot on the beaches of Los Angeles County for the first nine seasons before relocating to Hawaii for the last two," according to Deadline's Nellie Andreeva.
