Rachel Brosnahan to lead Presumed Innocent Season 2
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Emmy winner has signed on to star in the second season of the Apple TV+ legal thriller from David E. Kelley and J.J. Abrams. While the first season starred Jake Gyllenhaal and was based on Scott Turow’s novel Presumed Innocent, Season 2 will be inspired by Dissection of a Murder, a novel by Jo Murray that’s set for publication in July 2026. Details of the show’s plot are being kept under wraps. Here's the book's description: "When Leila Reynolds is handed her first murder case, she’s shocked at how high-profile it is: the murder of a well-respected, well-known judge. This shouldn’t be the kind of case she’s leading; it’s way beyond her expertise. But the defendant, Jack Millman, is clear. He wants her, and only her. To make things worse, he’s refusing to talk. How is she supposed to prove herself on what appears to be an unwinnable case? Losing is not an option. She must find the most." Brosnahan, who starred on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel from 2017 to 2023, is playing Lois Lane in the upcoming Superman movie.
Felicity Huffman joins Doc for Season 2
Huffman will play Dr. Joan Ridley in a series regular role on the Fox medical drama. "This marks only the third series regular role on an ongoing series for Huffman following her starring turns on ABC’s Sports Night and Desperate Housewives, the letter earning her an Emmy Award," says Deadline's Nellie Andreeva, who adds that Dr. Ridley is "the kind of doctor who never has to raise her voice. Incredibly charming and charismatic with a wicked sense of humor that masks her ferocious ambition. She proudly describes herself as an ‘old-school broad.’ She drinks whiskey, smokes the occasional Marlboro red, and treats herself to solo steak dinners."
Taylor Tomlinson on the Los Angeles ICE protests: "I just don’t know to make it funny"
Tomlinson, in kicking off her final week as host of CBS' After Midnight, delivered a fiery monologue in reaction the ICE protests taking place miles away from her studio in downtown Los Angeles. Tomlinson was the only Los Angeles-based late-night host with a new show Monday since Jimmy Kimmel Live! was dark. “Late-night shows aren’t funny anymore anyway. We’re just the news now,” Tomlinson said. “I don’t know. I just have a hard time talking about any of this stuff because I don’t think it’s funny. I can’t imagine being somebody whose mom or dad or brother or sister got abducted by ICE and then you turn on TV and it’s just some dumb bitch in a ponytail saying: ‘Trump’s just being silly.’ I don’t know how to make it funny. It’s not funny.” As LateNighter's Bill Carter notes, in opting for a fiery tone, Tomlinson "she sounded more like Kimmel and Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers than ever before."
The Last of Us co-creator confirms Kaitlyn Dever will be Season 3’s lead
As expected, Abby will be the focus of the HBO video game adaptation’s third season. “I’ve been involved with several failed adaptations, both for ‘Uncharted’ and ‘The Last of Us,'” co-creator Neil Druckmann said at an Emmy FYC event, per Indiewire. “And I think it was good to go on that journey, to end up at HBO and end up at a place that leaned into those controversial decisions, I guess. But those decisions are just the story require that, even now I talk about it, it’s like I can’t believe that they let us structure the series in this way, meaning that we just ended Season 2, and Season 3 is going to be starring—spoiler alert—Kaitlyn.”

The Pitt's Noah Wyle pens a USA Today essay urging help for healthcare workers
"Our message is simple: Without a supported, protected and fairly treated workforce, there is no patient care," Wyle writes." Whatever other important issues are being debated, this has to be a priority. Health care workers are experiencing burnout at staggering levels. Half of physicians and nurses report being burned out, and health care workers face a 32% higher risk of suicide than the general population.
