Star Trek: Strange New Worlds renewed for a six-episode fifth and final season
With the 10-episode Season 3 premiering on July 17 and Season 4 currently in production, Paramount+ announced this morning that Season 5 will be the Star Trek series' last. Season 6 will begin shooting later this year with just six episodes. "From the very beginning, Strange New Worlds set out to honor what Star Trek has always stood for — boundless curiosity, hope and the belief that a better future is possible,” executive producers Akiva Goldsman, Henry Alonso Myers and Alex Kurtzman said in a joint statement. “And to the passionate fans who’ve boldly joined us on this journey — thank you. Bravo renews Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Live for three more seasons as NBCUniversal extends his first-look deal
Watch What Happens Live has been extended through 2027, while Cohen's first-look deal will now run through 2028. He will also continue to serve as executive producer of the Real Housewives franchise. "To say I’m thrilled to continue doing what I love - more than 20 years after starting at the network - is an understatement!" Cohen wrote on social media. "Thank you for hanging with me!"
Only three late-night talk shows will be eligible to compete at this year's Primetime Emmys
"With Emmy voting opening, it has emerged that there were only 13 submissions in the Outstanding Talk Series category, meaning that the category has lost one nomination from last year and two from the year before," says Deadline's Peter White, adding: "It’s a blow for the late-night community, which has been trying to find ways to fix the Emmy category with the reduction in the number of submissions over the last few years as a result of a dwindling number of late-night shows. This has come after shows such as The Late Late Show with James Corden, Conan and Desus & Mero have ended and not been replaced."

Steven Spielberg will celebrate Jaws' 50th anniversary by introducing a special airing on NBC
Spielberg's landmark blockbuster thriller film, which premiered on June 20, 1975, will air on NBC on June 20, 2025. The NBC screening and Spielberg’s introduction are just some of the plans NBC Universal has to mark the anniversary. Peacock, for instance, will show all four Jaws films.

According to The Wall Street Journal's Isabella Simonetti and Joe Flint, Moran's early Sunday morning tweet attacking President Trump and his top aide Stephen Miller "roiled some colleagues who felt he had made their jobs harder. By Tuesday afternoon, network executives moved to oust Moran. His contract with ABC was set to expire on Friday, June 13, and executives opted not to renew it because of the post. They decided to dismiss him a few days before the contract was up. Disney CEO Bob Iger and Dana Walden, the co-chair of Disney entertainment, were informed of the ABC decision and supported it, according to a person familiar with their thinking. People familiar with the company’s decision said it wasn’t made in response to pressure from the Trump administration."

The eight-episode Fightland, from writers Damione Macedon and Raphael Jackson Jr. and producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, is described as “a gripping story of redemption, betrayal, and brutal ambition in and out of the ring," following "a disgraced, formerly incarcerated boxing champion who returns to London to seek vengeance against the crime family he thinks betrayed him. With edge-of-seat action and populated by dangerous characters, this is a world of money and power never seen before, according to the official logline.

History Channel orders event series The Bible Revealed
The follow-up to 2013's The Bible will examine the Bible's through 10 episodes. "Through expert commentary from scholars and theologians, the series explores the foundational biblical events — such as the Great Flood, the Ten Plagues, and the Garden of Eden — through theological tradition, scientific inquiry and cultural resonance," according to Deadline. "From the mysteries of Genesis to the epic of Exodus, The Bible Revealed examines the enduring stories in an immersive way."
Pat McAfee reportedly tried to launch an independent version of College Gameday
"McAfee has two years left on his College Gameday contract. Last year, he considered not returning before re-signing," reports The Athletic's Andrew Marchand. "He has mused with associates about starting his own, independent version of Gameday, according to sources briefed on discussions. This does not appear to be happening, at least not now. But he is mercurial and can make big decisions seemingly on whims. McAfee cares about his image. During a Gameday stop in Norman, Oklahoma, last fall, McAfee grew upset about being shown swinging and missing during a segment in which he faced a University of Oklahoma softball pitcher. McAfee, according to sources briefed on the incident, demanded to know the name of the GameDay staff member who put it on the air, but he was denied the information." Marchand also reports that Adam Schefter had been banned from The Pat McAfee Show for months over one minor incident. That is, until this morning.
CNN is rebranding CNN Audio as CNN Podcasts as it expands its podcast business
“I remember when I first got into podcasting at Slate Magazine, people were saying ‘I hate the word podcast, podcast is such a dumb name,'” says Steve Lickteig, the head of CNN Podcasts in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “But it’s the name! That’s what we’ve called it from the beginning. I did see across the industry, places that were switching from podcasts to audio, and CNN did the CNN Audio thing back before my time. I think it was just sort of a trend of getting away from podcasting. But the fact is, these are podcasts. It’s what the industry and the general public, more importantly, calls them.”
Mister Miracle adult animated series is in the works at Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios
The series based on the acclaimed 12-issue comic book series by Tom King and Mitch Gerads will be Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios' second adult animated series, after Creature Commandos. A network or streaming platform has yet to be announced. Mister Miracle, which King will executive produce, follows Scott Free, "known worldwide as Mister Miracle, the greatest escape artist who ever lived," per Variety. "With his wife, Big Barda, Scott seemed to have built the perfect life on Earth, until everything began to unravel. As war erupts between the planets Apocalypse and New Genesis, Scott’s adoptive father, Darkseid, has apparently obtained the Anti-Life Equation, a devastating force capable of dominating the universe."
