The View unveils a state-of-the-art new set
"New digs, new season, new View. We're live right now. Let's get started!" moderator Goldberg said Tuesday from a platform atop The View’s new multi-story studio in the Walt Disney Company's new building in Manhattan, which was introduced via an extended drone shot. Good Morning America, Live with Kelly and Mark and Tamron Hall are all expected to move into the building in the coming months. The new View also features a new theme song "New Version," written by Oscar-nominated lyricist Diane Warren and performed by pop star Leona Lewis. The only thing left from the original View set is the iconic table. Not only is the audience closer, but so is executive producer Brian Tata. "Brian is on a much different plane. He's closer! And you all are closer, it's quite something," Goldberg said, referencing the new audience stands. "We have to talk about the fact that we're in a brand new space, because it's very different. It's a big change for us, too, because when I came, the set was vastly different, we were on a big old thing, now we're on even space, we're all on the same space!" As Tata explained to People: "Our graphics team is like kids in the candy store right now. There's so much that we're still going to need to get acclimated with and play with. I think at first, it'll be The View you know and love, but as time goes on, we'll have a lot of fun with some of the things we can do."
Wheel of Fortune reveals new Ryan Seacrest-era changes, including ditching index cards and puzzle board sensors
With Seacrest taking over the syndicated game show from longtime host Pat Sajak, Wheel of Fortune "has a revamped set, which includes new lighting, additional space and a lot of gold metal laminate," says John Koblin, who toured the revamped set. "The puzzle board got an update not long ago, too: Now all Vanna White has to do is move her fingers near a lit up panel, and a letter will appear. Touching a panel — let alone turning it — is no longer necessary." As White explains: "It was time for a change" Seacrest, says Koblin, "has already brought a new energy to the set. He can break into a salsa dance. He moves easily around the stage. And he does not require index cards — one of Mr. Sajak’s hallmarks — when he introduces each new contestant." Tony Vinciquerra, the chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, says in picking Seacrest, "we want to have the continuity of the host, someone who is well known, and who will travel with the show through that transition. I can't think of a better person to do that with than Ryan.”
