Travis Kelce is in talks to host a celebrity-focused reboot of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? for Amazon
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and boyfriend of Taylor Swift is poised to plunge further into the entertainment world with an Amazon Prime Video reboot of the long-running game show Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? that would feature celebrities instead of kids. This would mark Kelce's latest entertainment industry venture after starring on E!'s Catching Kelce, hosting Saturday Night Live and producing a movie called My Dead Friend Zoe. But Kelce would not be the first NFL star to host a game show. Michael Strahan and Peyton Manning respectively host ABC's The $100,000 Pyramid and NBC's College Bowl. But unlike them, Kelce is still an active NFL player, raising questions about his commitment to filming. Originally hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? aired for six seasons between 2007 and 2019, first on Fox, then in syndication, then on Fox again before a final rebooted season on Nickelodeon in 2019.

In the end, both she and Samantha find themselves wondering if the price of being the good daughter was worth it after all.”
Beyoncé appears to call out the CMA Awards
While unveiling the Cowboy Carter cover artwork today, the singer wrote that the Renaissance sequel was “born out of an experience” she’d had years prior where she “did not feel welcomed,” adding, “it was very clear that I wasn’t.” Beyoncé fans think she was referring to the backlash over her 2016 CMA Awards performance alongside The Chicks (then known as The Dixie Chicks). As Billboard's Hannah Dailey recounts, "there was backlash before the superstar even took the stage. A pre-show announcement teasing her performance sparked calls for a CMAs boycott on social media, with some people blasting the awards show for including Bey, whose tribute to the Black Panther Party during her performance of Formation at the 2016 Super Bowl had also earned pushback. (Some viewers also called for a boycott due to the inclusion of The Chicks, who famously pissed off the country music industry by criticizing George W. Bush at the height of the Iraq War in 2003.) After the performance, there was no mention of her appearance on the CMAs website."
Netflix pivots to Receiver after failure to find new subjects for Quarterback
The eight-episode Receiver, premiering this summer, will follow six of the NFL's top wide receivers: Las Vegas Raider Davante Adams, Minnesota Viking Justin Jefferson, San Francisco 49ers George Kittle and Deebo Samuel and Detroit Lion Amon-ra St. Brown. Receiver, from Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions and NFL Films, comes after the success of Quarterback last year. But Quarterback had trouble finding participants for Season 2.

Donald Trump sues ABC News and George Stephanopoulos for defamation over viral interview with Rep. Nancy Mace
Mace and Stephanopoulos recently went viral recently on This Week after the Republican congresswoman from South Carolina accused him of trying to shame her as a rape victim when he asked about Trump being found liable for sexually abusing E. Jean Carroll. "The distinction between what Judge Kaplan called 'rape' as it is 'commonly understood' and 'sexual abuse' as it appeared in the verdict of one of the trials is at the crux of a suit that Trump filed — a suit that misidentifies him as 'President Donald J. Trump,'" explains Mediaite's Tommy Christopher.

Total Access, NFL Network's first studio show, is dark this week apparently in a cost-cutting move
NFL Network has replaced Total Access, which usually airs at 7 p.m. ET, with Good Morning Football. "It’s strange, to say the least, that the league would press pause on the show in the week between the start of free agency and the annual meetings in Florida. A network spokesperson has not respond to multiple requests for comment," says ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio, adding: "One source with knowledge of the network’s current dynamics suggests it’s just another effort to cut costs at a time when the entire NFL Network/NFL.com operation remains in limbo regarding a potential sale. Coverage for the Super Bowl and the Scouting Combine was, in the source’s view, dramatically reduced. There also have been (and apparently will be) more remote contributions, all in a perceived effort to cut costs." Total Access is scheduled to return next week.
