Yellowjackets renewed for Season 4
Showtime has ordered a fourth season of its survival thriller series a month after its Season 3 finale became the most-streamed episode in series history with 3 million global viewers in seven days across linear and streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime. Season 3 was also Yellowjackets' most-watched to date. “Yellowjackets has become a cultural juggernaut, with season three shattering all previous records – we are thrilled to announce its renewal for a season four on Paramount+,” said Chris McCarthy, co-CEO of Paramount Global and President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios. “(Creators) Ashley (Lyle) and Bart (Nickerson) have masterfully crafted an utterly singular, genre-defying phenomenon— a perfect alchemy of psychological horror, survival thriller, and coming-of-age drama that continues to captivate audiences worldwide, brought to life by our extraordinarily talented and beloved cast.” Lyle and Nickerson discussed last month Yellowjackets' future and their original goal to do four or five seasons, with Lyle telling The Hollywood Reporter: "Any time that you say, 'We’re going to do five or six seasons,' that’s a shot in the dark and incredibly wishful thinking, just from a practical standpoint. It’s rare to even be here, having had the opportunity to tell three full seasons of this story. We feel extremely grateful and extremely lucky and fortunate. We feel that there is more story to tell and we’re really excited to dive into it. As you said, to be able to tell the story of the reassimilation into society, to see what horrors are in store for them even without the horrors of the wilderness is very exciting. But you can never truly predict and we just will be very grateful that we keep getting to tell the story."
