Christina Applegate reuniting with Anchorman team for Netflix dark comedy Dead to Me
The half-hour dark comedy has been described as a comedic Big Little Lies, about a powerful friendship between a free spirit with a shocking secret and Applegate, who plays a tightly wound widow. Anchorman's Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are producing Dead to Me, with Liz Feldman writing the 10-episode series. "This is a coup for Netflix and the producers as Applegate, a perennial top choice for TV casting directors, is offered multiple TV series and pilots every year but has been very selective," according to Deadline's Nellie Andreeva. "This marks her first TV series in six years." Applegate will also serve as an executive producer.

Those are in addition to the previously revealed Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney and Republican former U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh. "Lots of tricks played," tweeted Drudge. "Both Republicans and Democrats are getting caught up in the madness." None of the new people Drudge named have confirmed their unwitting participation on Who Is America? ALSO: Palin reportedly walked out on Cohen after he asked a "horrible" Chelsea Clinton question.

The Handmaid's Tale and The Real Housewives of New York City have been the perfect Wednesday summer double feature
"The far extremes of television entertainment, these two," says Darren Franich. "The Manhattan affiliate of Bravo’s docu-soap franchise is real-ish farce, starring personalities who once were human, showdowning Hamptonite social etiquette over winebrunch. The Handmaid’s Tale is a dark drama, important enough to win Hulu some Emmy Awards, requiring star Elizabeth Moss to soulshriek the sins of misogyny through her eyeballs. You could say the entertainment value came from the dissonance — like the lost days of Must See TV, when the sitcom antics of Seinfeld and, like, Caroline in the City dead-ended into the sliver-of-human-hope drama ER. But there has been something extra-special, horrifically necessary, about 'Handmaids & Housewives' in 2018."

TruTV's Bobcat Goldthwait's Misfits & Monsters is a hit or miss anthology series with a lot of potential
"Misfits & Monsters is a predictably hit-and-miss mixture of amusingly bizarre, strangely inspired and interestingly misfired with a lot of potential to grow and evolve," says Daniel Fienberg of the anthology series premiering Wednesday. He adds: "The reality is that this format is perfect for what is so superficially amusing about Goldthwait's worldview, but it isn't all that well-suited for what he actually does best, which is starting a story in a place of near-grotesquerie and mining unexpected humanity out of the muck. What's so impressive about Goldthwait's film work, and also what makes it such an inquired taste, is that you begin his movies in a place of discomfort and general unpleasantness and end in places of unexpected emotion and sometimes even hope."

It was kind of that level of — we just lived in the moment in whatever scene that we were doing, and that’s how we made it."
