Damon Lindelof: HBO's Watchmen will be an original story, not an adaptation
Source: Entertainment Weekly
Lindelof posted a five-page letter on Instagram explaining why he's not adapting the landmark 1980s comic book series. "We have no desire to 'adapt’ the twelve issues (Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons) created thirty years ago,” Lindelof writes. “Those issues are sacred ground and they will not be retread nor recreated nor reproduced nor rebooted …they will, however, be remixed. Because the bass lines in those familiar tracks are just too good and we’d be fools not to sample them … This new story must be original. It has to vibrate with the seismic unpredictability of its own tectonic plates. It must ask new questions and explore the world through a fresh lens. Most importantly, it must be contemporary… The tone will be fresh and nasty and electric and absurd… Some of the characters will be unknown. New faces. New masks to cover them. We also intend to revisit the past century of Costumed Adventuring through a surprising, yet familiar set of eyes… and it is here where we’ll be taking our greatest risk.”

The Middle will cap off nine seasons tonight with a "satisfying" series finale
Source: New York Post
“The finale really is a very satisfying ending for people who’ve loved the show for all these years. We’re not going to cut to black at the end like The Sopranos," says co-creator Eileen Heisler with a laugh. The Middle premiered one week after Modern Family in 2009, and has always stood in the shadow of its fellow ABC sitcom. “We were always riding their wind,” says Heisler. “Not being as splashy as Modern Family just became part of our narrative. We’re like the kid who is staying up late and the parents don’t know they’re up.” ALSO: Patricia Heaton: ABC wanted to continue The Middle, but we felt nine seasons was enough.
Owner of New York's famed Comedy Cellar is happy to have Aziz Ansari perform -- and he'd welcome Louis CK back, too
Source: New York Daily News
Comedy Cellar owner Noam Dworman tells The New York Daily News a woman walking out of a recent Ansari performance was the exception rather than the rule. "When he's come down there, the crowd has been cheering even more than they were before the controversy," he says of Ansari. As for Louis CK coming back to perform, he says, "Louis admitted that he did things he's ashamed of. Nobody should take this issue lightly. Yet as a society we also don't believe that punishments go on forever, and we generally believe in a path to forgiveness for people who have shown real contrition."
