Jeffrey Tambor says he hasn’t quit Transparent, but Amazon hasn't yet picked up his option for season 5
Despite Tambor’s rep telling telling media outlets today that he never actually quit Transparent, it’s unlikely that he’ll be back since he’s not currently under contract for Season 5. As Deadline’s Dominic Patten reports, options for other core cast members Gaby Hoffman, Jay Duplass, Judith Light and Amy Landecker have all already been picked up. In addition, Transparent writers have already begun working on stories that exclude Tambor’s Maura Pfefferman character. Meanwhile, Amazon’s investigation into Tambor’s alleged sexual harassment may continue into the new year. “Time [is] ticking as plans and scripts are penciled in," says Patten. “At this point, before the investigation makes its conclusions, the best possible outcome for Tambor is one that could see his lead character making a minor appearance on an upcoming Transparent season – and even that looks thin.”
