Kelsey Grammer: I'd like to see Frasier rebooted on Netflix
Source: Entertainment Weekly
The actor sees Netflix as a natural home for reviving his hit NBC comedy. “’Cause they’ve got it,” Grammer said Thursday in an interview on SiriusXM’s Jim Norton & Sam Roberts show, according to EW. “You know, Frasier is still, is in like the top 10 on Netflix, in and out, and you just think, ‘Wow, that’s amazing.’ And so it’s likely that that’s kind of where its new home would be.” On Monday's Late Late Show, Grammer said a reboot would feature major changes. “The first principle is that it is a different story, basically,” he told James Corden. “Same group of characters but in a different setting. Something has changed in their lives. Certainly John Mahoney died over a year ago and we would probably deal with that a little bit with dad being gone.”
Oscars producer makes it clear: We're not editing ad break Oscar speeches -- as long as winners stick to the clock
“If you stick within the 90 seconds, of course your entire speech is going to be on the air,” Donna Gigliotti, who is producing this year's ceremony with Glenn Weiss, tells Variety of the controversial plan to announce four categories during commercial breaks. Gigliotti also addressed criticism of the change, which the Academy tried to explain in a letter to its members last night. “I wish they’d all call me up and I’d show them how it was going to work,” Gigliotti said. “When I took on this job, the Board of Governors had made this decision. And at that point in time, they had a proof of concept. Everybody is going on the air. I feel badly that people are so upset, because I think if they saw it, it would allay a lot of their concerns.” ALSO: American Cinema Editors president denounces commercial break plan.
