SNL brought on Dan Crenshaw so Pete Davidson could apologize for mocking his war injury

The former Navy SEAL and recently elected U.S. representative, who lost his right eye to an IED attack in Afghanistan, made a surprise appearance on "Weekend Update" to receive Davidson's apology -- and to roast him. “In what I'm sure was a huge shock for people who know me, I made a poor choice last week,” Davidson said before Crenshaw appeared. “I made a joke about Lieutenant Commander Dan Crenshaw, and on behalf of the show and myself, I apologize.” When Crenshaw appeared, Davidson said: “I mean this from the bottom of my heart. It was a poor choice of words. The man is a war hero and he deserves all of the respect in the world. And if any good came of this, maybe it was that for one day the left and the right finally came together to agree on something: that I'm a d*ck.” Crenshaw responded with "apology accepted," and then his phone started playing an Ariana Grande song. “Oh, do you know her?” Crenshaw joked. After a few more roast jokes, Crenshaw became serious, in honor of Veteran's Day said "there's a lot of lessons to learn here. Not just that the left and the right can still agree on some things, but also this: Americans can forgive one another." Crenshaw also acknowledged Davidson's father, Scott Davidson, a firefighter who was killed in the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center. “And never forget those we lost on 9/11, heroes like Pete's father,” Crenshaw added. “So I’ll just say, Pete, never forget.”

"We signed a non-disclosure and it said, quote unquote, you can tell your mother, but that’s it,” Chip joked to Jimmy Fallon. “So mom, I just wanted to make a quick announcement, we are coming back to television.
