Busy Philipps' E! late-night talk show gets an October premiere date
The half-hour Busy Tonight premieres on Sunday, Oct. 28. E! says it will feature "everyone’s favorite unfiltered Hollywood best friend giving her hilarious and outspoken opinions on the latest pop culture stories and trending topics with candid celebrity guest interviews and original comedic segments.”

"We should know by the end of this month if we’re doing a three-night a week show or if E! will start us out at one-night per week," she says of the upcoming Busy Tonight. "My preference is really three nights per week to get a rhythm going. … We will be doing the traditional opening monologue a bit differently. It works for stand-ups and certainly everyone on Twitter is doing those sort of monologue jokes all day long. I bring something different to the table in my perspective so the opening will reflect that. I also just like talking, in case you can’t tell."

Variety apologizes over a TV writers panel that includes 11 men and just one woman
Variety's announcement was met with backlash from showrunners such as Grey's Anatomy's Krista Vernoff and TV stars like Busy Philipps, who named a bunch of female writers who could've participated. "We hear you loud and clear, and are currently working on rectifying our mistake," Variety tweeted. Meanwhile, The Post wrter Liz Hannah scheduled a female showrunner panel in response to Variety's panel. "I'm glad Variety apologized," tweeted Better Call Saul writer Gennifer Hutchison. "It's interesting though, from the lists folks are generating of female showrunners and upper level female writers, to see just how big of an 'oversight' this was. This is what we mean when we talk inherent bias. They didn't even think about it."

The revival of E! True Hollywood Story promises to take a "modern approach to the moments shaping pop culture," E! said in announcing a slew of new shows in development. Philipps will host an "innovative" talk show with the working title Busy Tonight, while married couple Simpson and Ross will star in Ashlee and Evan, focusing on their lives as a "young millennial couple."
