The Channel 4 "documentary" -- which included interviews with Markle's "8th cousin," who is related to Jack the Ripper -- confused viewers. In reality, the special was a mockumentary poking fun at the royal family documentary genre.

British networks BBC, Channel 4 and ITV may partner with NBC Universal on a streaming service to combat Netflix and Amazon
According to The Guardian, "the early-stage talks, which are also understood to involve NBC Universal, the US TV and film group that owns the maker of Downton Abbey, are focusing on how the UK’s main broadcasters and makers of top shows can work together to create a streaming rival to the popular and deep-pocketed newcomers that have transformed broadcasting."

British reality show Genderquake will explore gender fluidity
Channel 4 is actually coming out with a series of programs, also called "Genderquake," that will provide a "provocative" exploration of gender fluidity. The show Genderquake will have 11 young British people from across the spectrums of gender and sexuality live together.

Verne Troyer mourned by his Celebrity Big Brother and Surreal Life housemates
The Austin Powers Mini-Me actor, who died Saturday at age 49, made some notable appearances on reality TV, both in the United States and in Britain. In 2006, he appeared on Season 6 of VH1's The Surreal Life, where he famously got "piss-drunk." Adrianne Curry notes that now two of her housemates are dead, including wrestler Chyna. Rapper Da Brat also paid tribute to Troyer. In 2009, Troyer appeared with Coolio on Britain's Celebrity Big Brother, where he drunkenly crashed his scooter. Coolio tweeted a tribute to Troyer: "#sad that my homie @vernetroyer #vernetroyer is gone #rip I #cherish the time we spent together #cuwhenigetthere #love."

UK dating show Flirty Dancing is inspired by La La Land
Channel 4's Flirty Dancing combines two reality genres: dating and dancing. Channel 4's Sarah Lazenby says of the reality show: "Inspired by the evocative atmosphere of La La Land, we want to recapture the magic and romance of the dancehall days when you could be swept off your feet rather than being swept left or right."

Ronan Farrow is set to host a British late-night satire show from The Daily Show co-creator
Fresh off his Harvey Weinstein scoop, Farrow is joining Daily Show co-creator Madeleine Smithberg in collaborating on a Channel 4 show that Variety says is “billed as a deliberately satirical take on the U.K. as seen through the eyes of America.”
