The Weather Channel is presenting video game-like simulations of Hurricane Florence's potential severity
"As Hurricane Florence flood warnings continue to surge, the Weather Channel has found a way to make them hit home: with a visualization of what the storm surge could look like 'in reality,'" reports Rachel Withers. "With experts still trying to convince residents to evacuate in spite of a category downgrade, the immersive mixed reality is an upgrade on the standard topographic inundation map—and a powerfully sobering use of technology. The viral visualization shows a presenter standing on a simulated street, as simulated floodwaters rise higher around her, showing various possible depths—otherwise just numbers—in relation to her body." ALSO: CNN's Anderson Cooper, Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo caught all wearing "short sleeve muscle polo shirts" while out covering the hurricane.

Chris Cuomo's new CNN primetime show will avoid much-derided panels
Cuomo says avoiding panels was one of the conditions he set forth in hosting a primetime show. Instead, he'll focus on one-on-one interviews with newsmakers. "I don’t need to sit there and listen to all of these outsized voices with competing banter,” he says. “I think there’s enough of it.”

Anderson Cooper approves of his current SNL impersonator, is glad to see his CNN show cut in half

In fall 2015, Cooper expressed disapproval with what friend Andy Cohen called then-SNL cast member Jon Rudnitsky's "queened it up" impression of the CNN host. But Cooper approves of Alex Moffat's impression of him, which resurfaced two days ago on SNL's cold open. "I think he does it really well," Cooper said today. “I’d love to meet him and maybe give him one of my ties. Seth Meyers was the first one to do me on SNL. When he left, I was sad to see him go because nobody else would be doing me anymore. I’m glad somebody else has taken it up.” Cooper wouldn't discuss his Stormy Daniels interview-- slated to air Sunday on 60 Minutes -- but he did talk about Chris Cuomo taking over one of his CNN primetime hours: "I totally think it’s a great thing," he said. "I’m happy not to be doing two hours every night. Two hours in a row is a lot of live television. I think Chris is a great voice to have in prime time. It brings great energy to our prime time.”
