Rob Lowe: CBS' talk of reviving Code Black "should be taken with a mound of salt"
Lowe tweeted skepticism in response to CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl saying that the canceled CBS drama might be un-canceled. "Unfortunately, this should be taken with a mound of salt," Lowe tweeted. "There as been no official outreach to the show runner. Easier for them to give this non-specific, fuzzy quote than explain why they cancelled a well respected and well rated show."

CBS may un-cancel Code Black
The Rob Lowe-Marcia Gay Harden medical drama was canceled on May 24 after three seasons, but it has performed well in the nine episodes that aired following the cancelation through its July 18 "series finale." CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl said at TV press tour that Code Black has done so well, he's seriously considering bringing it back from cancelation. "It's doing incredibly well. It's a well-done show, and we'd like to figure out a way to maybe make it work," he said, adding: "Economics are a little challenging to be honest, but it's certainly performing well, and we're going to take a look." On June 14, Lowe pointed out on Twitter that Code Black was still performing well despite its cancelation. "I wonder how (cancelled) 'Code Black' being the NUMBER ONE show of the night, fits into CBS new business model. Asking for a friend (and a crew of 150 people)"

Code Black creator wanted everybody to have an "explosive and emotional" series finale
So many things happened in the Season 3 finale of the canceled CBS medical drama, begging the question of whether these all were stories creator Michael Seitzman wanted to tell in Season 4. "We always pack a lot of stories into our episodes," he says. "It’s part of the conceit – at Angels, a Code Black literally means an influx of patients that overwhelms the staff. I wasn’t sure how much of these stories we would carry into next season, I just knew I wanted every character to have an explosive and emotional finale."

Have we reached "Peak MD"? Broadcast TV could have as many as six medical dramas next season
NBC's Ryan Eggold-led drama New Amsterdam joins a crowded network medical drama field consisting of The Resident, Grey's Anatomy, The Good Doctor, Chicago Med and -- should it be renewed -- Code Black. "So why did the network feel the need to order up 10 cc’s of another medical drama STAT?" says Jennifer Maas of the New Amsterdam pickup. "Well, that’s a good question, as the Nielsen numbers for this genre are all over the place, meaning it could either become a hit, provide the network with steady mid-range ratings, or tread water each week."

A medical consultant on The Resident is being investigated for sexual harassment
Zachary Lutsky was accused of sexual harassment by two women when he worked on Season 2 of CBS' Code Black, and was told not to return to his job. But The Resident’s studio, 20th Century Fox TV, said “we have only recently learned of these allegations through an inquiry from a reporter. We are not aware of any claims made concerning his conduct on The Resident.
