Lost producers "profoundly apologize" to Evangeline Lilly after she revealed nude scene complaints
Lost co-creators J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof, as well as executive producers Carlton Cuse and Jack Bender, issued a joint statement today in response to Lilly's revelation that she felt "basically cornered into doing a scene partially naked, and I felt had no choice in the matter" -- an experience that left her "crying my eyes out." “Our response to Evie’s comments this morning in the media was to immediately reach out to her to profoundly apologize for the experience she detailed while working on Lost,” the Lost producers said in a joint statement “We have not yet connected with her, but remain deeply and sincerely sorry. No person should ever feel unsafe at work. Period.” Lilly revealed on The Lost Boys podcast published earlier this week that “in season 3, I’d had a bad experience on set with being basically cornered into doing a scene partially naked, and I felt had no choice in the matter. And I was mortified and I was trembling when it finished. I was crying my eyes out and I had to go on do a very formidable, very strong scene thereafter.” She added that "in Season 4, another scene came up where Kate was undressing and I fought very hard to have that scene be under my control and I failed to control it again. And so I then said, ‘That’s it, no more. You can write whatever you want—I won’t do it. I will never take my clothes off on this show again.’ and I didn’t.”

Damon Lindelof: HBO's Watchmen will be an original story, not an adaptation
Source: Entertainment Weekly
Lindelof posted a five-page letter on Instagram explaining why he's not adapting the landmark 1980s comic book series. "We have no desire to 'adapt’ the twelve issues (Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons) created thirty years ago,” Lindelof writes. “Those issues are sacred ground and they will not be retread nor recreated nor reproduced nor rebooted …they will, however, be remixed. Because the bass lines in those familiar tracks are just too good and we’d be fools not to sample them … This new story must be original. It has to vibrate with the seismic unpredictability of its own tectonic plates. It must ask new questions and explore the world through a fresh lens. Most importantly, it must be contemporary… The tone will be fresh and nasty and electric and absurd… Some of the characters will be unknown. New faces. New masks to cover them. We also intend to revisit the past century of Costumed Adventuring through a surprising, yet familiar set of eyes… and it is here where we’ll be taking our greatest risk.”

The Good Place creator Michael Schur sought advice from Lost’s Damon Lindelof
Schur saw every Lost episode live and would cry with his wife watching Lindelof’s HBO series The Leftovers. So after meeting last year, a “bromance” was formed. Schur says of leaning on Lindelof for Good Place advice: “The thing that Damon did for me, which I was very grateful for, the greatest thing anyone any writer can do for another writer, which is to say, ‘Here are, like, 12 pitfalls you’re about to fall into,” which is exactly what I needed. I needed a person who is conversant in the language of science fiction or genre writing, which I am not, to say to me, ‘Here are some things that are gonna happen that are dangerous. Here’s what’s gonna happen, here’s how to avoid it.’ So that was a huge part of how I operated going forward.”

Tom Cruise needs a career reboot: Why not try TV?
Source: Entertainment Weekly
“Maybe just a little dip into the waters of Netflix?” says Tim Stack. “Or a brief stay trip to HBO? I’m not saying he should be the lead of NCIS: Weehawken. TV takes so many forms now but a limited series would be the best choice IMO. I would love to see him work with someone like Noah Hawley or Ryan Murphy or Damon Lindelof — someone who could take him out of his action-hero comfort zone and showcase his skills. Maybe even play an anti-hero. Some of my favorite Cruise roles were when he wasn’t likable, like in Magnolia or Interview with the Vampire. How great would Cruise be in an American Crime Story season? Or even a new Fargo installment? Or True Detective 3?”
