David Schwimmer to star in British comedy series Intelligence
The Friends alum will co-star with British comedian/actor Nick Mohammed for the six-part Sky One comedy. According to Deadline, "Schwimmer plays a power-hungry, maverick NSA agent who joins an inept and tactless computer analyst (Mohammed) and a newly-formed team tackling cyber-crime. What could go wrong?" Schwimmer, who recently made headlines when a British lookalike was shown stealing a crate of beer, says of the role: "I have no idea what this show is about but if it’s called Intelligence, naturally I’m going to be part of it.”

David Schwimmer's Will & Grace character is a "totally plausible fortysomething-year-old version of Ross Geller"
Source: Vanity Fair
The former Friends star began his five-episode stint on the NBC comedy as Grace's potential love interest, Noah, who is a notorious Twitter user called “the West Side Curmudgeon.” "Yes, there are plenty of differences between Noah and Ross," says Laura Bradley. "Ross would probably reject the notion of being any sort of blogger, beyond perhaps starting a Tumblr about dinosaurs. And unlike Ross, whose repressed rage tended to rear its ugly head at inconvenient times—like when a co-worker ate his sandwich—Noah seems more comfortable living in a constant state of low-grade anger, expressing his frustration with people who, for instance, don’t hold the door for other people. Still, looking at Noah, it’s not hard to imagine that he is the man Ross could have become—especially if he and Rachel didn’t make it for the long haul. Is it really that hard to imagine Angry Ross wandering the streets of the Upper West Side, tweeting his every frustration into the void?" Max Mutchnick says he and fellow co-creator David Kohan created Schwimmer's part as a love interest for Grace before he was cast. "I think the first day we started talking about the character, we thought of our high school buddy, David Schwimmer, and thought to ourselves that this would be such a good part for Schwimms — if he wanted to dip his toe into the waters of multi-camera comedy again," says Mutchnick. "So we wrote him an email, then we went to New York for the weekend and laid it out for him. And he got on board. It was beshert — it was meant to be." Mutchnick adds that Schwimmer's surprise appearance created a reaction from the live audience that was so loud and long that they had to have it removed.
