JC Chasez returns to Mickey Mouse Club as a mentor
The 'N Sync star and former Mouseketeer will appear on Club Mickey Mouse, a Mickey Mouse Club reboot for the Disney Digital Network. Chasez appeared on the legendary 1990s version of the Mickey Mouse Club that featured Justin Timberlake, Keri Russell, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Ryan Gosling.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is being revived for Disney's streaming service

The announcement was made at Comic-Con's 10th anniversary panel for the animated series. “It’s an anniversary," creator Dave Filoni told the crowd. "It’s 10 years. And you guys deserve something for being so great. A present, if you will,” Filoni told the audience. “We got together and we thought, if there is one thing we could give you what would it be? So here you go.” Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been picked up for a 12-episode season.

“A few” Star Wars TV series are being developed for the Disney app

Disney CEO Bob Iger said of the potential Star Wars series during an earnings call Tuesday: “We are developing not just one, but a few Star Wars series specifically for the Disney direct-to-consumer app. We've mentioned that and we are close to being able to reveal at least one of the entities that is developing that for us. Because the deal isn't completely closed, we can't be specific about that.”

Live-action Star Wars should use the Battlestar Galactica reboot template
The early 2000s reboot of Battlestar Galactica would could offer a serious template for bringing the Stars Wars world into a live-action TV setting. “The Star Wars franchise absolutely should try to figure out how to make its world support more than the same few kinds of lightsaber-heavy adventure stories that define the films,” says Phil Hornshaw. “That means leaning into stories like the ones Battlestar Galactica told in its reimagining, and finding out what the world of Star Wars really looks like to the people who live there. The franchise has long concerned itself with war, heroes and good and evil, but it’s done a bad job of ever showing people grappling with real life in its galaxy.”

A live-action Star Wars TV series and a new High School Musical are coming to Disney’s streaming service
In addition to announcing a Star Wars TV series, Disney CEO Bob Iger said A Monsters, Inc. TV series and new entries in the High School Musical franchise will also be part of the Disney streaming service, launching in 2019. The streaming service will also include a new Marvel TV series. Iger also said the streaming service will be priced below Netflix. “Our plan on the Disney side is to price this substantially below where Netflix is,” he said. “That is in part reflective of the fact it’ll have less volume.

Mickey Mouse Club is being rebooted for social media
The show's latest incarnation -- titled Club Mickey Mouse -- won't take the form of a traditional TV show. Instead, Disney will release 70 shorter “pieces of content” each week on Facebook and Instagram.
