Megyn Kelly's Today colleagues pillory her over her blackface comments
“The fact is, while she apologized to the staff, she owes a bigger apology to folks of color around the country because this is our history," Al Roker said on Today hours before Kelly's on-air apology. After Savannah Guthrie called it an "uncomfortable" situation, fellow Today colleague Craig Melvin called it "silly" and "disingenuous" to dismiss the controversy as a result of political correctness. "The fact is a lot of folks don’t realize that Jim Crow, short hand for the racist laws that existed in this country for much of the last century, especially in the deep south, the term Jim Crow came from a minstrel show in the 1830s," Melvin said. "It was an opportunity for us to learn more about blackface, but I think a lot of people knew about blackface before yesterday.” ALSO: Don Lemon delivered a stern rebuke of Kelly on CNN.

The Weather Channel is presenting video game-like simulations of Hurricane Florence's potential severity
"As Hurricane Florence flood warnings continue to surge, the Weather Channel has found a way to make them hit home: with a visualization of what the storm surge could look like 'in reality,'" reports Rachel Withers. "With experts still trying to convince residents to evacuate in spite of a category downgrade, the immersive mixed reality is an upgrade on the standard topographic inundation map—and a powerfully sobering use of technology. The viral visualization shows a presenter standing on a simulated street, as simulated floodwaters rise higher around her, showing various possible depths—otherwise just numbers—in relation to her body." ALSO: CNN's Anderson Cooper, Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo caught all wearing "short sleeve muscle polo shirts" while out covering the hurricane.

Source: The Guardian
“Let me not mince words here," Lemon said on his primetime show in response to President Trump's late Friday tweet. "This president traffics in racism and is fueled by bullying. From keeping children at the border in cages to bullying journalists at his rallies every chance that he gets. President Trump is trying a divide and conquer strategy here and here’s how it goes."

CNN trolls President Trump over LeBron James interview: "Sounds like @FLOTUS had the remote last night"
The president was apparently watching CNN's Don Lemon interview the NBA legend late last night when he decided to attack their intelligence, tweeting that James was "just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do." CNN's PR Twitter account responded by using Melania Trump's #BeBest slogan: "Sounds like @FLOTUS had the remote last night. We hope you both saw the incredible work of @KingJames. #BeBest." That prompted First lady spokesperson Stephanie Grisham to tweet: "#BeBest is a sincere campaign meant to help children. Not something for @CNN to use to mock @POTUS." ALSO: Don Lemon hit back at President Trump for calling him dumb, also invoking Melania Trump's slogan: "Who’s the real dummy? A man who puts kids in classrooms or one who puts kids in cages? #BeBest."

Don Lemon blames President Trump, addressing him directly, for CNN death threats
“Mr. President, I’m speaking directly to you,” Lemon said on his CNN show in reaction to a Michigan man shouting “fake News” in threats to the cable news network. “We are not the enemy. We are not trying to silence you. It is the job of the free press to report the facts, to ask questions, tough questions, ones you don’t like, even if you don’t like the facts or those questions. No matter how many times you attack us as fake news, we will continue to do our jobs.” Lemon himself was the subject of a death threat last November.

Censor or don't censor? Networks grapple with Trump's reported use of profanity at WH meeting
Source: The New York Times
Following in the lead of The Washington Post, which broke the “sh*thole” story and put it in their lead headlines uncensored, various media outlets published Trump’s reported remark without censorship. MSNBC used the profanity, while Fox News censored it. CNN varied between allowing "sh*thole" and censoring it. Lester Holt used it, warning at the top of NBC Nightly News that “this may not be appropriate for some of our younger viewers,” while his ABC World News Tonight counterpart David Muir described President Trump “using a profanity we won’t repeat.” UPDATE: Trump denies saying "sh*thole."
- Stephen Colbert’s “sh*tholes” were bleeped by CBS
- Jimmy Kimmel showed a montage of Wolf Blitzer saying “s-hole” instead of "sh*thole"
- The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah said “sh*thole" uncensored," but Comedy Central’s website opted to use asterisks
- Don Lemon tells his CNN viewers: "The president of the United States is racist”
- Anderson Cooper fought back tears as he defended Haiti against Trump’s “sh*thole” remark
- BBC Radio 4 allowed use of “sh*thole” — “a word I never thought I would utter on the BBC,” tweeted BBC’s Nick Bryant

CNN calls out President Trump's bullying behavior after he calls Don Lemon the “dumbest man on television!”
Responding to a New York Times' report that the president “hate-watches” CNN and Don Lemon’s show, Trump tweeted this morning: “I never watch Don Lemon, who I once called the ‘dumbest man on television!’ Bad Reporting.” According to Mediaite, none of Trump’s previous tweets refer to Lemon as being dumb. CNN released the following statement in response to Trump’s tweet: “In a world where bullies torment kids on social media to devastating effect on a regular basis with insults and name-calling, it is sad to see our president engaging in the very same behavior himself. Leaders should lead by example.”
ALSO: New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman tweets: "People quantifying his TV habits bothers POTUS in a way few other things do. He and his aides take it as some kind of disrespect instead of reporting a fact that his tweets often reveal. When I was asked on a show several months ago how many hours he was watching TV and put it at at least 4, he happened to see it and proceeded to mention that I'd said it to several advisers during the course of the weekend."
