The Office alums pop up on SNL to pressure Steve Carell to do a revival
Carell's former cast members Ellie Kemper, Ed Helms and Jenna Fischer were all in the audience for his opening monologue on last night's Saturday Night Live. It was Carell's first time hosting since leaving The Office. “People would really love to see an Office reboot," said Kemper. "Because I need that money. Let’s get that money, Steve." Helms told Carell, who was promoting his new movie Beautiful Boy, that a potential reboot would bring in so much money “you wouldn’t have to do all those sad movies.” Fischer added: “Don’t be a d*ck, Steve. Do the reboot!'” The bit also included Carell's wife, Nancy Carell (née Walls), who appeared on The Office as Michael Scott's realtor and who herself was an SNL cast member in the 1995-96 season. Carell reacted to his former Office cast members by saying what he's been saying for a while: “I don’t think it’s the best idea. I think we should just leave it alone."

TV needs more loveable idiots
Source: The Washington Post
"There’s something oddly comforting and delightful about a character whose defining quality is total stupidity, especially these days when we’re overwhelmed by so. much. information," says Elahe Izadi. "TV shows can be an escape pod from everyday worries, existential dread and constant news alerts. Watching someone live in blissful ignorance? Sounds like a vacation. This fall, TV features an array of such fools with even more screen time than they’ve had before, including freeloading slacker Todd Chavez (Aaron Paul) on Netflix’s BoJack Horseman and the resident dummy on NBC’s The Good Place, the beautiful Jason Mendoza (Manny Jacinto)." Other great loveable idiots from past sitcoms include Parks and Recreation's Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt) and The Office's Erin Hannon (Ellie Kemper).

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt's fourth season tries to stay upbeat in an increasingly bleak world
Source: The Atlantic
"The tone is still aggressively upbeat; Kimmy is smiling again," says Sophia Gilbert. "But Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt knows what time it is. There are a handful of awkward Trump jokes and typical gentrification gags before the show eases into gear, skewering the reality of the workplace for women while satirizing the pop-culture fantasy of the workplace for women. Kimmy, discovering how to stream television shows, binge-watches a series called Gals on the Town about 40-something women juggling love, work, and friendship, and becomes convinced she’s supposed to spend her Sundays brunching and getting her nails done. She also finds herself facing a sexual-harassment complaint, after her attempts to fire a male developer in a gentle 'Kimmy' kind of way backfire disastrously."
