Clooney is directing, while also producing and starring on the Hulu limited series based on Joseph Heller's novel. Page Six reports that despite Clooney's frightening scooter accident that left him briefly hospitalized with minor injuries this morning in Italy, "production is continuing as planned." Filming is wrapping production in Sardinia and moving to Rome.

George Clooney was treated and released for minor injuries after a motorcycle crash that hurled him 20 feet through the air
Clooney, who is in Italy working on Hulu's Catch-22, was riding his scooter this morning when he was hit by a car while traveling 60 miles per hour. According to TMZ, Clooney was hurled 20 feet in the air with his helmet striking a car's windshield and breaking. Clooney didn't suffer any life-threatening injuries, and was able to leave the hospital hours later.

YouTube gets Kirsten Dunst to star in a 1990s-set dark comedy from producer George Clooney
In her first regular TV series role since Fargo in 2015, Dunst will star in YouTube Premium's On Becoming A God In Central Florida, a 10-episode one-hour dark comedy series that she will also executive produce. Previously in development at AMC, On Becoming A God is set near Orlando in the early 1990s. According to Deadline, it "centers on Krystal Gill (Dunst), a minimum-wage-earning water park employee who will eventually scheme her way up the ranks of Founders American Merchandise: the cultish, flag waving, multi-billion dollar pyramid scheme that drove her family to ruin." Clooney will serve as executive producer with his producing partner Grant Heslov.

George Clooney hands over his Catch-22 starring role to Kyle Chandler

Clooney will take a less-demanding role on the Hulu miniseries based on the James Heller classic novel. As director and executive producer, Clooney felt he had too much on his plate to also be playing the leading role of Col. Cathcart, which was to mark his first regular series role since ER. Chandler will play Col. Cathcart instead, while Clooney will take on the lesser role of Scheisskopf. This will be Chandler and Clooney's second time working together. Chandler starred in the 2012 Oscar Best Picture-winning Argo, which Clooney produced.

Hugh Laurie to co-star with George Clooney on Hulu's Catch-22

After two seasons starring on Chance, Laurie is returning to Hulu for the George Clooney-directed miniseries based on the classic Joseph Heller novel. While Clooney will play the role of Col. Cathcart, Laurie has signed on to play Major de Coverley, the squadron executive officer on Pianosa air base. The Hollywood Reporter describes Laurie's character as dancing to the beat of his own drum: "Regarded with awe by the men. He spends his time pitching horseshoes, listening to jazz on his phonograph, mixing himself martinis and hiring apartments for the officers in every new city the Americans take."

“After watching the second episode, featuring George Clooney, it appears that Letterman might the one who doesn’t want to talk about Trump,” says Matt Wilstein, noting that both have been outspoken about critics of President Trump. The lack of Trump discussion was pointed out in the premiere episode, featuring President Obama. But it was assumed that Letterman and the former president were keeping to the tradition of presidents declining to speak ill of their immediate successor.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! had its “drunk and disorderly” debut 15 years ago today
A inebriated audience — including one woman who vomited — greeted Jimmy Kimmel for the launch of his then-live talk show on January 26, 2003 following the Super Bowl. George Clooney was Kimmel's first guest and Snoop Dogg was guest co-host for the week. They both drank liquor on air, along with the audience had access to free drinks. Snoop also raised his middle finger to the camera, stressing out the censors. “The producers’ decision to distribute beer and wine to the studio audience before the show hit the air around 12:30 a.m. Sunday night, did not go over well either,” The New York Post reported at the time. “The network had a meltdown,” then-executive producer Daniel Kellison told the Post. The audience that night included then-Disney CEO Michael Eisner and then-ABC boss Lloyd Braun.

Hulu acquires every ER episode
All 15 seasons and 331 episodes of the NBC hit medical drama that ran from 1994 to 2009 are now available for streaming for the first time. In a statement, George Clooney — who has signed on to direct and star in Hulu’s Catch-22 — said: “It was such an honor to be a part of this show. I was lucky to have worked with so many writers, actors and directors all at the top of their game. Most importantly I’ve made friends for a lifetime. I’m excited it will finally be streaming on Hulu.”

Netflix will roll out each of the six episodes of Letterman’s new talk show series once a month, starting on Jan. 12 with the Obama episode, which will mark the former president’s first television interview since leaving office.
