Gretchen Carlson: “Potentially big changes” are coming to the Miss America pageant
"I have so many great ideas for this organization, and I will be talking about those with all the other board members and the eventual CEO of Miss America and staff of Miss America," the Former Fox News host said of her new role as the new chair of the Miss America pageant’s board. "So what I would love to say about that is, please stay tuned, because I plan to make this organization 100% about empowering women. Changes are coming — potentially big changes."

Gretchen Carlson tapped to lead the Miss America pageant through its harassment scandal
The former Fox News anchor will serve as chairwoman of the pageant’s board of directors to clean up the mess left by former CEO Sam Haskell, who resigned shortly before Christmas after his emails exposed his nasty comments about past Miss America winners. Carlson will be joined on the board by three other former Miss America winners. “Honored to move this iconic program forward with so many amazing volunteers,” Carlson tweeted in announcing the news.

49 former Miss Americas, including Gretchen Carlson, are demanding a leadership change
BeBe Shopp Waring, 87, who was crowned in 1948, is among the 49 former Miss Americas demanding not only that Miss America CEO Sam Haskell step down, but the senior leadership of the pageant as well. The are speaking out following the revelation that Haskell made disparaging remarks about them via email.

Why did Time magazine omit Gretchen Carlson from its “Silence Breakers” Person of the Year issue?
Carlson should be considered an anti-sexual harassment groundbreaker for taking on Fox News boss Roger Ailes last year, according to Yashar Ali. He says Carlson has had a greater impact on exposing sexual harassment in the workplace than other “Silence Breakers” whom Time mentioned, including Taylor Swift and Carlson’s former Fox News colleague Megyn Kelly.

Tipping Point: Sexual Harassment in America airs Thursday at 9 p.m. E.T. with New Day anchor Alisyn Camerota hosting. Carlson settled with Fox News last year after accusing Roger Ailes of sexually harassing her. Hill generated headlines in 1991 when she accused Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment at his Supreme Court confirmation.
