Paul Reiser on a Mad About You revival: "My guess is it won’t happen"
"It’s kind of stuck in the business end of it now," Reiser told the Tampa Bay Times on Monday. "Sony is trying to figure out from their end; that’s where I just walk away and go, call me when you figure it out. I don’t know what happens at that level. They make their deals with whoever they make their deals with. So we’ll see if it happens. It may not happen. It likely won’t happen. My guess is it won’t happen." Reiser and Helen Hunt signed deals with Sony TV in April to reprise their famous NBC roles. Reiser says of the revival being in potential limbo, "It’s like, ‘You know, guys, I was very happy not doing it for 20 years, and then you invited us back. And now if you can’t make it happen, it’s not a big deal.’ Things happen, they don’t happen." Reiser says if a Mad About You revival does indeed happen, "it wouldn’t go to NBC, probably. In a dream world, it would be on a streaming (platform). I don’t know if we’re going to do it, but if it did come back, I would much rather do it on a streaming platform than a broadcast."

Mad About You revival could end up on CBS
“It has been pitched; it is still being discussed,” says CBS Entertainment senior executive vice president Thom Sherman of the network's discussion with Sony TV Studios, which has signed Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt to reprise their famous NBC roles. According to TV Line, the revival "would revolve around Paul and Jamie grappling with empty-nest syndrome in the wake of now-17-year-old daughter Mabel’s admission to college."

Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt are officially on board the Mad About You revival
Danny Jacobson, who co-created the hit NBC sitcom with Reiser, will also be part of the revival. Sony Pictures Television signed Hunt, Reiser and Jacobson after months of negotiation. As James Hibberd reports, "the next step is shopping Mad About You to a network. Given the rather spectacular ratings success of ABC’s reboot of Roseanne, as well as the solid performance of NBC’s revived Will & Grace, there are likely to be multiple potential suitors. NBC would be an obvious landing place for the series given its history on the network. But since the comedy wasn’t owned or produced by NBC, it’s not yet clear if it will end up there."

Helen Hunt lunches with Paul Reiser once a month, and says it would be a "dream" to revive Mad About You
“The dream is to get to do it,” she tells People, adding that she's been a big fan of the TV revival craze. “I’ve been watching Will & Grace and laughing so hard out loud, they’re just crushing it," she says. Hunt adds that her daughter has never seen an episode of Mad About You, but she has seen Reiser on Stranger Things.

Helen Hunt on a Mad About You revival: "Depending on some pieces falling into place, it could happen"
Hunt says Paul Reiser was at her house earlier this week discussing the potential revival. "(He was) at my kitchen table yesterday and, after a lot of conversations between us about how we were very proud of the work we did, and we left it with a lot of care, (we agreed) we just didn't want to come in and wreck it," Hunt said Tuesday. "That was our number one goal and remains our number one goal."

Paul Reiser on a Mad About You revival: "We don’t know that it’s coming back”
“Somebody jumped the gun with the Mad About You,” Reiser said on the SAG Awards red carpet of the report of a revival that came out the day after Christmas. “Somebody went a little crazy. Helen Hunt and I were talking about it and somebody said, 'Oh look, they're talking, I guess they’re doing a re-boot.'” He added: “We’re thinking about it. We ended it very well and we were proud of how we ended it, and we wrapped it up nicely, so if you open up that box again, you want to make sure you do it well. We’ll let you know as soon as we decide.”

A Mad About You revival? Paul Reiser says he’s “talked about” it with Helen Hunt
“If we can find the story to tell, and anybody’s interested, I’d be open to it,” says Reiser, who’s currently appearing on Stranger Things. Reiser tells People Magazine: “For years, I would’ve said, ‘Absolutely no. We never would do it,’ because I was very proud of how we ended it really well. We even told the future a little bit, so our thinking at the time was, ‘Let’s make sure we never get tempted to come back. Let’s tell them what happens.’”
