Friends costume designer was flattered that designer fashion brand Balenciaga apparently used Joey Tribbiani for inspiration
Balenciaga this week unveiled a $9,000 seven-layer coat that strongly resembles the outfit Matt LeBlanc's character wore when he tried on all of Chandler Bing's clothes at the same time. Matt LeBlanc is leaving Top Gear after four seasons
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
"My experience on Top Gear has been great fun," the Man with a Plan star said in a statement announcing that the next season airing later this year will be his last. "I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the whole team. However, the time commitment and extensive travel required to present Top Gear takes me away from my family and friends more than I’m comfortable with. It’s unfortunate, but for these reasons I will not be continuing my involvement with the show."

New Girl's Max Greenfield modeled Schmidt after Joey Tribbiani, Dwight Schrute and Barney Stinson
"My feeling was if you were going to have these two grounded characters (Jess and Nick) who were doing incredible work — just really, really good solid single cam acting — there needed to be the big explosive joke hitter," he says. "You needed that. Most shows have had them. Like, if you look at The Office, Rainn Wilson got that in the beginning. You had it with Neil Patrick Harris’ character (on How I Met Your Mother) and Joey (on Friends) and all these other characters like that — that sort of No. 3 that hit the punchlines. I was like, ‘Alright, I’m just gonna go big on this stuff.’ And it’s paid off.”

Matt LeBlanc disagrees with critics who say Friends is problematic in 2018
Source: The Independent
Ever since Friends joined Netflix's UK lineup late last year, some young British people have expressed dismay over some of the show's storylines, which they've found to be transphobic, homophobic and sexist. LeBlanc recently weighed in on the controversy while promoting Top Gear for BBC. "I've heard those rumors too about people taking pot shots at Friends, but I don't want to get into that. I disagree with all that,” LeBlanc said. "On Top Gear, we tend to steer clear of any sort of political content, nothing too topical," he added. "On Friends, we steered clear of that kind of thing too. Friends was about themes that stand the test of time – trust, love, relationships, betrayal, family and things like that.”

Jenna Fischer looks back at getting fired from CBS’ Man With a Plan
The former Office star didn’t learn that she would be dropped in the role of Matt LeBlanc’s wife until the day of CBS’ announcement picking up the show. She recalls being told, “they’re picking up the show but focus groups didn’t love the chemistry between you and Matt LeBlanc — they didn’t believe you as a couple — and since it’s Matt’s show they’re obviously not replacing Matt. So they’ll be replacing you.”

Episodes' series finale was written before Matt LeBlanc signed on for CBS’ Man With a Plan
Says co-creator Jeffrey Klarik: “You’re not going to believe this, because so much of this was based on our lives, but this was all written before we found out about Man With a Plan, and then we just thought, ‘Oh my God, nobody’s going to believe this.’”

Jennifer Aniston thinks Ross and Rachel are “still thriving" after Friends, throws water on a Joey-Rachel pairing
“It was Ross and Rachel all the way,” she tells Elle. “I really believe that if there's an afterworld of Friends, they're still thriving. Don't you? I just don't think Joey and Rachel could have made it. I think it was more physical than emotional with them. They were friends with benefits, and they left it at that.” PLUS: Matt LeBlanc likes to troll Friends fans.

Matt LeBlanc: I passed on playing Modern Family’s Phil Dunphy
Source: USA Today
The former Friends star says the role "came across my desk,” but he quickly realized “I’m not the guy for this. I’d be doing the project an injustice to take this. I know what I can do, I know what I can’t do. Plus, I’m having too much fun laying on the couch.” Had LeBlanc appeared on Modern Family, he would’ve been reunited with Ed O’Neil. LeBlanc had a brief stint on Married with Children playing Kelly Bundy’s boyfriend. The role led to a spinoff, Top of the Heap, with actor Joseph Bologna playing his father. (Bologna died last week.) PLUS: LeBlanc says turning 50 “sucks.”
