What it's like to make out in SNL's opening credits
Keren Lerner says she and her boyfriend Marc can be spotted kissing in Saturday Night Live's opening credits every week for approximately ".3476 seconds." How did she end up in the opening credits? Lerner explains that she was making out with Marc one night when a woman emerged from an unmarked production van, telling them they were being filmed and asked if they could sign a release. Lerner says when Season 44 premiered, "the effects of our newfound stardom were swift and profound. For example, I achieved a personal lifetime record for likes on a Facebook post."

Doctor Who unveils trippy new title sequence
The kaleidoscopic new title sequence is the creation of John Smith, a visual effects artist, who created his own opening for Doctor Who as a 16-year-old fan then posted it on YouTube. Eight years later, he was tapped to design a real sequence for Doctor Who.

The CBS All Access drama is "dryly, surreally funny," which the title sequence captures perfectly, says James Poniewozik. "It’s kind of beautiful, really," he says. "The sequence announces the show as playful, willing to surprise you."

Angus Wall’s Elastic firm was put on the map by Game of Thrones, leading to other series — from The Young Pope to True Detective to American Gods — to seek out the company’s ideas. “Game of Thrones is still referenced more so than anything that is more recent, even like, Westworld or True Detective,” says Jennifer Sofio Hall, Elastic’s managing director. “It was an incredibly iconic piece of entertainment. I think it reinvigorated the main-title category for the Emmys, and everything else.”
