Rihanna reportedly turned down Super Bowl halftime show in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick
Source: Us Weekly
Us Weekly reports Rihanna declined an offer from CBS and the NFL to headline the Feb. 3 Super Bowl LIII halftime show because "she supports Colin Kaepernick," the quarterback who has been out of the NFL for nearly two years after kneeling during the National Anthem. Maroon 5 has reportedly landed the halftime gig instead, but the NFL has yet to make a formal announcement. “The NFL and CBS really wanted Rihanna to be next year’s performer in Atlanta,” an insider tells Us Weekly. “They offered it to her, but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. She doesn’t agree with the NFL’s stance.”

Seth Meyers admits Trump has "helped" his show, while a Hillary Clinton presidency wouldn't have given as much material
In a Variety profile, the Late Night host talks about wanting to book Rihanna (“I really want to have Rihanna on my show") and how the Trump presidency has affected his comedy output. “I think Donald Trump running for president changed the show, because it helped us,” he says. “If, all of a sudden, we just woke up one morning and Trump was president, I don’t think we would’ve been ready for it. But because his campaign was a perfect reflection of what his presidency was going to be, we had gotten in shape.” He considers the alternative, adding: “Like, no matter what your politics are, I don’t think that Hillary Clinton would’ve given us this much to go through every day.”

Miley Cyrus pranks a sleeping Jimmy Kimmel and accidentally hits him in the testicles with a sledehammer

On Monday night, Kimmel showed video of Miley Cyrus pranking him in the middle of the night, but not for April Fool's Day. Cyrus brought in a "wrecking ball" and a sledgehammer as she surprised a sleeping Kimmel by singing her hit song "Wrecking Ball."

The VMAs lost its relevance as this year's show was defined by who wasn't there
Source: The Ringer
“The superstar A-list has finally, definitively abandoned the MTV Video Music Awards,” says Rob Harvilla, noting the absence of big names like Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Drake and Rihanna. “The supply,” he adds, “of brand-name artists who need the VMAs at all is dwindling every day.” As a result, he says, “the 2017 VMAs scrambled to fill that fearsome power vacuum, clinging to its few genuine A-listers for dear life… And presiding over it all was poor, poor, poor Katy Perry, flexing those cringe-comedy muscles as she fired off wan gags about fidget spinners, The Handmaid’s Tale, Frye Festival, Hillary Clinton, and the plain fact that half this show’s target audience was watching Game of Thrones instead.” PLUS: VMAs downplaying of hip-hop is why it’s become irrelevant, VMAs benefited from being politically muted, why was the ceremony so sleepy?, transgender service members attended the VMAs, Katy Perry was mocked for her terrible monologue, “Moonman” renamed “Moon Person,” one of the most anti-Trump moments occurred during the commercial break, Adam Levine slammed “utterly horrible” VMAs on Twitter, and MTV used Heather Heyer’s mom to communicate its heart and soul.
