CBS orders a Seth Rogen comedy pilot that sounds like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, but with a guy
The proposed comedy titled 25, from Rogen and writing partner Evan Goldberg, is about a twenty-something guy who moves to Austin to tell his best friend from camp that they are perfect for each other, only to learn that she just got engaged. Not only does the premise sound like a gender-flipped Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, but there is concern that a show about a guy relentlessly pursuing a girl who has moved on isn't a good idea in these #MeToo times.

Hulu’s Future Man, “a lazy pile of d*ck jokes,” is a brand of "dude comedy" that is arriving at the wrong time
The comedy spoof of 1980s sci-fi movies from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg “is a mostly okay TV show,” says Noel Murray. But its male point of view feels unfit for this moment of near-daily sexual misconduct allegations. “A big part of how the current sexual harassment mess evolved is the presumption that successful entertainers and moguls possess a spark of genius that could be extinguished if they’re ever asked to be more empathetic,” says Murray. “It’s unfortunate that Future Man is tarred by this familiar dynamic and this current cultural moment, because it’s more middling than malevolent. The show is polished and punchy, with good special effects, well-choreographed action, and at least one laugh-out-loud moment per episode. But a lot of it also seems to run on dude-comedy autopilot, which is getting harder just to shrug off these days.”
