Hilarie Burton blasts One Tree Hill convention, prompting Sophia Bush to defend her
Source: E! Online
Burton received some backlash after she wrote of the annual One Tree Hill Eyecon convention: "I personally feel exploited by their ‘girl power' angle, which exists at the expense of some of us who went through a difficult time on that show. They're using our sisterhood as a sales gimmick. No thanks." That prompted Bush to defend her, writing: "Let's get real clear, real quick. Hilarie Burton is my sister. She is a big-hearted, brilliant, thoughtful, incredible human. She has had laser sharp, clearly defined integrity running up her spine as long as I have known her. She is a human being. She has feelings. She is entitled to her OWN OPINIONS. She does not make statements hastily."

“43 women came forward. To the ones who did and to the ones who didn’t or couldn’t, I hope this news is a salve to your souls,” Bush tweeted. “To the other predators out there? I hope this is a lesson that sometimes, even if it takes time, justice is served. You’re next.” Burton added: “The reason we cannot condone ‘degrees of harassment’ is because one day you get your butt or boob grabbed at work. And you laugh it off. You become conditioned. "She's such a good sport" they say. And then? You meet a Schwahn.”

Sophia Bush on her Chicago P.D. exit: “It was my dream job and I was miserable”
Source: E! Online
"I don't have to give everyone the specific break down of exactly why I left until I'm ready to do that,” she said on Refinery 29’s Unstyled podcast. “But, the overarching theme for me, was that I landed my dream job. I landed this job that, since I was 20 years old and trying to become an actor, I said I wanted. And aspects of it, don't get me wrong, were wonderful. But, I realized…by the end of the second season I couldn't do that job anymore.” She added that she gave producers plenty of warning about her exit, saying she told them: “I'm giving you 23 episodes notice. I'm giving you that much time. So there will be no conversation in which I was hysterical, emotional, in which I was being a quote irrational female or whatever you want to put on it. I'm literally sitting in front of you like cool as a cucumber.”

Report: Chicago P.D. star Jason Beghe's anger management issues led to Sophia Bush’s exit
Variety reports that NBC launched an investigation last year after receiving multiple complaints about Beghe’s behavior on set, with cast and crew complaining about "anger issues, volatile behavior, and offensive comments.” As one source put it to Variety, “people felt disrespected, he yelled a tremendous amount, he had a quick fuse and when it was set off it was unpleasant for everyone around him.” Sources also tell Variety “that his behavior played into Sophia Bush’s decision to leave the show.” In a statement, Beghe acknowledged his anger management issues. “I am deeply sorry for my behavior, which I know has been hurtful to my friends and colleagues,” he said. “I have struggled with anger issues for some time, and over the past year, I have been working with a coach to help me learn how to mitigate my temper.”

One Tree Hill creator accused of sexual harassment by his cast and crew
Stars Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton and Bethany Joy Lenz joined other cast members and “brave crew” in writing an open letter in support of writer Audrey Wauchope, who tweeted over the weekend of One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn’s alleged sexual harassment on set. In the open letter, the cast and crew members said Schwahn's alleged behavior “was something of an ‘open secret.’ Many of us were, to varying degrees, manipulated psychologically and emotionally. More than one of us is still in treatment for post-traumatic stress. Many of us were put in uncomfortable positions and had to swiftly learn to fight back, sometimes physically, because it was made clear to us that the supervisors in the room were not the protectors they were supposed to be. Many of us were spoken to in ways that ran the spectrum from deeply upsetting, to traumatizing, to downright illegal. And a few of us were put in positions where we felt physically unsafe. More than one woman on our show had her career trajectory threatened.” Schwahn is currently creator/showrunner of E!’s The Royals. “We are monitoring the information carefully,” the three companies behind the show said in a statement to Deadline. “E!, Universal Cable Productions and Lionsgate Television are committed to providing a safe working environment in which everyone is treated respectfully and professionally.”
