Sophie Turner: Game of Thrones used code names all over the place for final season -- dubbed "Face Of Angels"
Call sheets didn't use the actors' real names, either, "so that no-one knew who was really going to be on set," says Turner in an interview with Esquire UK. She also backed up Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's claim that the actors were given self-destructing scripts. "Yeah, it's all true. I mean, we wouldn't get anything physical," she says. "We would have it on an app. We would get sent sides for the scene (we were shooting) the next day. So we would have to learn it all the day before." ALSO: Turner is a food reviewer on her secret Instagram account.

Sophie Turner admits her Game of Thrones tattoo "was probably not a good idea"
Source: Digital Spy
"I remember, a few years ago, I dyed my hair blonde for another role that I was doing. Everyone thought I was a Targaryen all of a sudden," Turner says of sparking Game of Thrones fan theories by the slightest change in her appearance. She adds: "Game of Thrones is all about theories. So the more we can conjure up, the better it is. The more exciting it makes it, the more unpredictable it makes it. But yeah, definitely that tattoo was probably not a good idea, because everyone thought that I'd given away the end. But I haven't. It's a quote from last season."

Sophie Turner: My new Game of Thrones tattoo is not a spoiler

“It’s just a quote from last season,” Turner told James Corden on The Late Late Show in London. “Everyone figures that the pack really does survive, but it’s just a moral that I like to live by.”

Game of Thrones and Westworld are skipping Comic-Con in a blow to the annual event
Source: Entertainment Weekly
HBO said in a statement that “due to production schedules and air dates for Game of Thrones and Westworld, these series will not be presented at San Diego Comic-Con this summer." According to Deadline, HBO will have no presence at this year's Comic-Con. Game of Thrones' absence is the latest high-profile defection after Starz's Outlander decided to go to New York Comic-Con instead of San Diego Comic-Con. This will be the first time Game of Thrones' has been absent from Comic-Con since the show premiered in 2011. According to EW's James Hibberd, "there are a few issues at play. First, the show is not airing in 2018, taking a year off for the first time as it films its hugely ambitious final season. With season 8 not airing until 2019, it’s a bit early to begin promoting the new episodes. Granted many other movies and shows go to Comic-Con months ahead of their release to start building buzz, but the difference with GoT is the wildly popular fantasy hit simply doesn’t need any promotional help. Another factor is the show is still in production on its final season, so many of the actors are rather busy." In Westworld's case, he adds, the second season will be over by the time Comic-Con starts -- though that hasn't stopped the Game of Thrones cast from appearing in previous years following the conclusion of the season in the spring.

Peter Dinklage is glad that Game of Thrones isn’t doing “the jumping-the-shark thing,” says they’re halfway done with the final season
“It’s time,” Dinklage tells Variety of ending the HBO drama. “Storywise, not just for all our lives. It’s the perfect time to end it. Sometimes shows stay on a little too long, the jumping-the-shark thing.” ALSO: Maisie Williams will be Sophie Turner’s bridesmaid.

Game of Thrones won’t be back until 2019, says Sophie Turner
“Game of Thrones comes out in 2019,” the actress said in an interview with Variety. Although it’s not confirmed that the final season will air in 2019, Turner’s comment is the latest hint that Game of Thrones fans are in for a long wait for the final season. HBO programming president Casey Bloys has hinted at a 2019 start for Season 8 and actor Liam Cunningham said that the final season would be shooting through summer 2018, which would make a 2019 premiere more likely because of the lengthy post-production process.

Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner tweets in defense of the Stranger Things kids
Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard has been getting grief for not stopping to interact with fans outside his hotel over the weekend. But the 21-year-old Turner, using her experience as a former child star, says it’s outrageous that “fully grown adults” would wait outside a hotel and then “abuse them when they don’t stop for them.” She adds: “It doesn’t matter if they are an actor... they are kids first. Give them the space they need in order to grow without feeling like they owe… anyone anything for living their childhood dreams.”

Game of Thrones deserves a better villain than the Night King
“What helps elevate Game of Thrones from the other legions of fantasy-trash,” says Tom Philip, “is its acting, its generous character development (even when it goes nowhere), and its nuanced approach to the morality of ruling and war. The Night King offers none of that. He stomps around in his monochrome wasteland, sics what can only be described as "the zombie cast of The Walking Dead, only cold" on Jon Snow intermittently, all the while looking like a C-grade CGI Marvel villain (and with about the same depth as one, too).”

With this week’s episode, Game of Thrones turned into “straight-up fantasy”
Source: The Ringer
The HBO series used to be an exceptional fantasy show, but Sunday’s episode showed how it’s become just a conventional fantasy, as Alison Herman points out. “While watching the episode, it was hard to avoid the conclusion that the show has reached a fundamental turning point,” she says. “Game of Thrones is no longer a uniquely subversive commentary on fantasy as a genre. It’s just straight-up fantasy, and not only because this week’s big battle pits dragons against ice zombies.”
