You're the Worst creator doesn't want the big wedding to take over the final season and change the show's tone
“We wanted to keep the momentum of the wedding planning going so as to make it always the gravitational force that was propelling the season,” Stephen Falk tells Variety. He adds: "When you’ve had a show that has really delved into clinical depression and PTSD and the way we treat our veterans in this country, then planning a wedding seems a little lightweight.” ALSO: Falk explains any season premiere confusion.

You’re the Worst renewed for a fifth and final season
With the final two Season 4 episodes airing tonight, FX networks and creator Stephen Falk have announced that they’ve jointly agreed to end the FXX series next season. Calling the show an “incredible experience,” Falk said: “I am thankful to have the opportunity to be thoroughly judged whether or not we ‘stick the landing’ – which is a thing people say now that stupid Breaking Bad had to end so damn perfectly.”

You’re the Worst is TV’s best show about depression

Creator Stephen Falk’s FXX comedy “is an exploration of debilitating mental illness masquerading as romantic comedy,” says Rachel Syme. Falk, she says, “took stock characters that we have seen on TV a hundred times—the young, attractive, city-dwelling couple who meet at a wedding and then dance around each other until they finally commit—and loaded them down with the big stigmas; he saddles his Sam and Diane with buckets of paranoid neuroses and self-sabotaging impulses. In You’re The Worst, the Ross-and-Rachel characters aren’t just lovesick, they have actual illnesses, with actual consequences.”
