The CW may be done trying spin off Supernatural
After two failed attempts to get a Supernatural spinoff off the ground, The CW president Mark Pedowitz says he may have come to the realization that the long-running series is only about Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. "And there may not be a franchise beyond that,” he said at TV press tour. However, he added, “if there’s a great idea that (the producers) want to go forward with, we’re open to listening. It is a great franchise." Both 2014's Supernatural: Bloodlines and this year's Wayward Sisters never made it past the pilot stage. “We were very happy with the women in the Wayward Sisters spinoff,” Pedowitz said. “We had a certain number of slots this year. So it just didn’t get there.”

“We are big fans of the characters and the women who played those characters," said CW president Mark Pedowitz. "We hope they continue on as guest stars on Supernatural… But we did not feel creatively that the show was where we wanted it to be. And we felt we had a better shot with (Originals spinoff) Legacies.”

CW renews 10 shows, including Riverdale, Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Dynasty
Black Lightning, Arrow, The Flash, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Supernatural and Supergirl will also be back next season. CW shows yet to be renewed include The 100, iZombie, Life Sentence and Valor. The most baffling renewal is Dynasty. "Midway through its freshman run, Dynasty recently slipped to an almost mythical 0.1 demo rating, though Nicollette Sheridan’s debut as Alexis seems to have resuscitated the numbers, some," as Matt Webb Mitovich points out. UPDATE: Rachel Bloom tweets Season 4 will be Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's "final season."
