The Expanse can "curse like a sailor" and show nudity now that it's on Amazon
“It’s going to be more awesome,” says showrunner Naren Shankar of the canceled Syfy series' resurrection on Amazon. “We no longer have the language restrictions. (We can) curse like a sailor. We don’t have the nudity restrictions… and the 4K and HDR will look amazing on Amazon. We’re no longer constrained by a 43-minute box. We can put some air into it, let things breathe a little bit more. So we’re excited to be on Amazon Prime.”

Why The Expanse's Season 3 was its best yet
"The Expanse writers have taken a creative approach to adapting the James S.A. Corey novel series," says Cheryl Eddy, "foregoing what would seem like the expected 'one book per season' structure. The fact that season three stretched across two books was definitely obvious, but it didn’t take away from the enjoyment of the series. It just meant that we got six very solid episodes that tied up much of the drama that consumed seasons one and two—and then, in a choice that felt completely natural, jumped ahead several months for a total recharge (and seven more equally solid episodes). Instead of spending any time dithering around, guiding characters toward the next exciting point in the story, The Expanse quickly dove right back into the action, fully trusting that its viewers would be able to keep up." Amazon Studios boss expresses interest in saving Lucifer, recalls The Expanse fans' plane banner stunt
“We were talking about Lucifer,” new Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said last Thursday in an interview with Deadline. “I know that international, especially the UK group, was really bullish on that show, I haven’t checked in on that today (Thursday), but I heard conversations were ongoing on that yesterday.” Salke also recalled The Expanse fans sending a banner over Amazon Studios' Los Angeles headquarters: "There were airplanes circling us, I was having cakes delivered, there was a whole thing happening,” she said. “And then really smart people, whose opinions I really value creatively, started reaching out to me, saying, 'have you seen this show, The Expanse, it’s actually great.' I hadn’t so I spent some time, I watched the show and I was like, this show is actually really well done, why is nobody watching it? At the same time, Jeff Bezos was getting emails from everyone from George R.R. Martin to every captain of industry, like the founder of Craigslist, and they were all writing, saying, there’s this show, it’s so great, you have to see it, you have to buy it or save it."

Amazon officially revives The Expanse for Season 4
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, a massive fan of the James S. A. Corey book series that the canceled Syfy drama is based on, personally made the announcement Friday at a panel at the National Space Society with the cast and crew in Los Angeles. "I just got word that The Expanse was saved," Bezos told the audience. Amazon already had streaming rights to reruns of the first three seasons of The Expanse. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Bezos is a big fan of the book — the source material was on the screen when the executive displayed Amazon's Kindle Fire for the first time to press — and he was said to be livid when the TV series went to NBCUniversal-owned Syfy, a move that reportedly ignited his demand that Amazon Studios brass find the next Game of Thrones.

She adds that, according to sources, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos "is a big fan of the book and was livid that the TV series went to NBCUniversal-owned Syfy. Syfy cancels The Expanse after three seasons
The Expanse was one of the first series greenlighted following Syfy's decision to return to its sweeping space opera roots. According to Deadline, producers plan to shop the series to another outlet. "The cancellation decision by Syfy is said to be linked to the nature of its agreement for the series, which only gives the cable network first-run linear rights in the U.S," according to Deadline's Nellie Andreeva. "That puts an extraordinary amount of emphasis on live, linear viewing, which is inherently challenging for sci-fi/genre series that tend to draw the lion’s share of their audiences from digital/streaming."
