How Heisler became TV's most popular fake beer
Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Stranger Things, Dear White People, True Detective and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia have all used the same fake beer brand, Heisler, resulting in it being dubbed "the Bud Light of fake beers." Why is Heisler so popular? Because you can put anything in it and do anything with it, including bash people over the head.

Why are TV detectives always sad?
"If the premise of a TV show is that a detective searches for justice, it follows that the detective will be almost unbearably sad," says Kathryn VanArendonk. "Her ability to do her job will occasionally be hindered by her alcoholism, or her post-traumatic stress, or her grief. A scene depicting professional competence will come hand in hand with a scene where the detective walks into his sad lonely apartment and eats out of a can while hunched on a mattress sitting on the floor. Searches for social justice are fueled by the need for personal vengeance. It’s so common, it’s now difficult to even imagine a happy detective."

HBO boss: Game of Thrones won’t return until 2019 because “these things take time,” and showrunners are “perfectionists”
Source: Entertainment Weekly
“Here’s what I’ll tell you: They take the time they need to do the show at its highest level of quality,” HBO programming chief Casey Bloys tells EW. “As the show has gone on, it’s gotten bigger — big battle scenes, big special effects. These things take time. Here’s the one thing I can assure you: Dan and Dave were not sitting around on a beach waiting to go back to work. They’re perfectionists and this is the soonest it can come back at a level of quality that they are comfortable with.”
- Game of Thrones prequels won’t premiere until at least 2020
- Bloys says David Benioff and D.B. Weiss won’t proceed with Confederate for a year to a year and a half

The same design firm created the opening credits for Game of Thrones, Westworld, Daredevil and The Crown
Source: Vanity Fair
Angus Wall’s Elastic firm was put on the map by Game of Thrones, leading to other series — from The Young Pope to True Detective to American Gods — to seek out the company’s ideas. “Game of Thrones is still referenced more so than anything that is more recent, even like, Westworld or True Detective,” says Jennifer Sofio Hall, Elastic’s managing director. “It was an incredibly iconic piece of entertainment. I think it reinvigorated the main-title category for the Emmys, and everything else.”
