Brendan Fraser delivers a "vaguely meta performance" on FX's Trust
Source: The Cut
Danny Boyle says Fraser helped shape his character as Fletcher Chace, John Paul Getty Sr.’s cowboy-hat-clad fixer and private eye. A performance that Anna Silman says is Fraser "very much playing a character, but also kinda sorta playing Brendan Fraser." She adds: "From the moment he steps onto the screen, it’s hard not to feel delight at seeing Fraser’s familiar, dependable face back in action. It’s like crossing paths with an old friend you have’t seen in years. And while it’s instantly very funny to see George of the Jungle swaggering around in a cowboy hat and interrogating various Italian restauranteurs and mobsters, there’s also a poignancy to seeing him this role. Fraser’s nostalgic familiarity quickly informs our sense of the character, imbuing Chace with a decency and steadfastness that sets him apart from almost everybody else on the show."

Trust hopes to go for three seasons after initially planning for five
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
Producer Danny Boyle and creator Simon Beaufoy say the original plan was to go five seasons, to go beyond the kidnapping story of John Paul Getty III. "Then they rationalized it — and intensified it — down to three," says Boyle of the FX drama series. Beaufoy adds: "There's so much to say and do about three generations of Gettys. Like, where it all started with this story of a man who came to be obsessed with money — what happened in his childhood that made him so obsessed with money?"

Getty family member threatens to sue over FX's Trust
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
John Paul Getty III's sister, Ariadne Getty, claims Danny Boyle's series about the Gettys, which premieres on March 25, is "a cruel and mean-spirited defamatory depiction" of the family. In particular, she says it makes it appear her family was complicit in her brother's 1973 kidnapping case. "It is ironic that you have titled your television series Trust," said her attorney, Marty Singer, in a letter to FX. "More fitting titles would be Lies or Mistrust, since the defamatory story it tells about the Gettys colluding in the kidnapping is false and misleading, and viewers rightly ought to mistrust it."

Brendan Fraser accuses former Golden Globes president of groping him, says it derailed his career
The star of FX's Trust recounted to GQ how former Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Philip Berk allegedly sexually assaulted him at a luncheon in summer 2003. “I felt ill," he says. “I felt like a little kid. I felt like there was a ball in my throat. I thought I was going to cry. I felt like someone had thrown invisible paint on me.” Berk has previously denied the assault happened.
