ABC's World News Tonight topped NBC Nightly News during an Olympics week for the first time in more than 25 years
While David Muir's newscast was No. 1 in total viewers, Lester Holt was No. 1 in the key 25-54 demo during the first week of the Winter Olympics. Because NBC is airing live across the country, NBC Nightly News is also being shown live coast-to-coast at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT. George Stephanopoulos criticizes his ABC bosses for censoring “sh*thole”
“We’re not reporting the word right now, I think that’s probably a mistake,” Stephanopoulos said on Good Morning America. “I don’t think it’s right to censor the president or to sugarcoat the racist sentiment revealed by how he used that word in the meeting.” While other networks have used the word in their reporting, ABC World News Tonight instead said President Trump used “a profanity we won’t repeat.” ALSO: Watch Pauly Shore reenact Trump advisor Stephen Miller’s CNN interview.

Elizabeth Vargas is leaving ABC News after two decades
ABC News announced that the longtime 20/20 co-anchor and former World News Tonight co-anchor will depart after Season 40 ends in May “to pursue new ventures.” ALSO: Amy Robach is the frontrunner to succeed Vargas on 20/20.
